Our Story and our Team
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic
......... and the subsequent lockdowns that disrupted lives and economies worldwide in 2020, a group of compassionate individuals embarked on a journey to make a difference in the lives of underprivileged inhabitants of Bali, Indonesia. Focusing their efforts on those families and workers who relied on income generated by the island's tourism industry, they sought innovative ways to address the challenges faced by these vulnerable communities. The result of their collective brainstorming and dedication was the birth of an exclusive and exciting concept known as "Couch Farming."
The Bali Couch Farming Project,
........which has emerged as a beacon of hope, is dedicated to supporting the island and its people on the path to recovery. This project takes a distinctive approach by providing livestock to small-scale farmers and their families as a means of enhancing their livelihoods. What sets the Couch Farmer Project apart from traditional charity initiatives is that it operates without depending on donations. Instead, it operates based on a unique "Win-Win" philosophy, ensuring that all parties involved benefit from the endeavor.
As the number of Couch Farmers continues to grow,
............so does the positive impact on Bali's families. This project essentially serves as a "bank account in the backyard," allowing smallholders to safeguard their financial stability. In a country where the banking system has often been perceived as complex and inconvenient, many Indonesian farmers have traditionally preferred to personally manage their savings, often in the form of livestock. The "Couch Farmer" term was coined by the dedicated members of Team Redlea to describe individuals who own livestock on the island of Bali and remotely manage and care for the well-being and growth of these animals through an online platform.
The definition of a "Couch Farmer"
............extends beyond mere livestock ownership. It encompasses a collective of like-minded, international individuals who share a deep love for Bali and a genuine concern for the island and its people. These Couch Farmers express their connection with the island by purchasing livestock and loaning it to small landholders to promote the production of offspring. The beauty of this concept lies in its flexibility; Couch Farmers have the freedom to sell their livestock at their own discretion.
It is important to note that
.............the Couch Farmer Project is not a traditional charity organization, nor does it solicit donations or operate for profit. The small group of Bali-loving individuals behind this initiative has personally witnessed the challenges and hardships faced by the island's residents during and after the lockdowns, and their commitment to making a meaningful difference remains unwavering.
The beauty of the Couch Farmer Project lies in its simplicity and effectiveness.
The journey of the Couch Farmers represents a collective effort to bring together individuals who believe in the power of "helping hands" over mere words of prayer. With this guiding philosophy, their team has developed a unique concept that invites foreign sponsors to provide livestock to farmers on the island through mutually beneficial partnership agreements, offering a sustainable and empowering approach to uplift Bali's communities in their time of need. The Couch Farmer Project symbolizes a bond between those who care for Bali and its people, transcending traditional boundaries and creating positive change.
